So this is the next material that will be studied in this semester, namely "CAPTION"

Part 1 

Definition of Caption?

Caption is a short description that accompanies the illustration. Captions are additional information that is usually located below the image or photo. Usually the caption only consists of a few words or sentences. Captions can be found in magazines, books, television, social media, and the internet. Caption text in addition to images is also used to describe graphics.

Type of Caption

Caption Structure :

Social Function 

A caption functions like a heading for a table. Most screen readers announce the content of captions. Captions help users to find a table and understand what it's about and decide if they want to read it.

Text Structure :

Can be:

- action/event/ activity

- people/thing that involved

- condition

Language Features :

- Noun Phrase for a thing, a person, an animal, a location, etc. which is focused on, with or without a, the, this, those, my, their, etc.

- Verb Phrase dealing picture/photograph/graph/chart

- Spelling, punctuation, and handwriting

TIPS TO WRITE CAPTIONS :

• Do not begin with the words a, an, or the.

• Use present tense to describe action in a photo.

• Give readers information they cannot get from just looking at a photo.

• A caption should complete the photo. The reader should not have to look at the story, but should want to look at the story.

• Write captions so they go from specific to general or general to specific.

• Do not begin a caption with names.

• When identifying members of a group, write “from left,” not “from left to right.”

• “Above” and “pictured here” are unnecessary.

• Captions should not repeat information contained in the lead.

• Name people only if they are important to the picture.

Part 3 : Conclusion

Basically what am I know about caption is a description, located in photos, caption usually a meaningful words, that can motivated us, caption text can be found in every where.
